SUCCESSFUL MEETINGS On Tuesday, December 11, Columbia Sussex Corporation (which owns the 1,624-room Tropicana Resort & Casino Atlantic City) was refused a renewal of its gambling license by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission. This week, December 17, Columbia Sussex announced plans to sell the Atlantic City property, which is located on the famous Boardwalk, along with its Evansville, IN, and Vicksburg, MS, casinos.
The Tropicana Atlantic City, which had recently added a 500-room tower and an upscale entertainment complex, The Quarter, will remain open under the control of Justice Gary Stein, pending further action. Mark Giannantonio, President and COO, Tropicana Casino and Resort, Atlantic City, has stated, “I would like to assure everyone that the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City is open for business and that our employees are dedicated and prepared to service our guests.”
