Don Freeman Named Chairman of Dallas CVB

November 03, 2009

Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert has appointed Donald S. Freeman Jr., chairman of Dallas-based event management company Freeman, as chairman of the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau for the 2009-2010 fiscal year, the Dallas CVB announced last week at its annual meeting.

"As chairman, Don brings unmatched expertise in convention and exhibition services, and Freeman is a respected name throughout the industry," Dallas CVB President and CEO Phillip Jones said in a statement. "He's the perfect person for this role as we move toward the opening of our Omni Dallas Convention Center Hotel in early 2012 with an ambitious goal for room night bookings and citywides."

Freeman, the company, has 41 offices in North America. Now 80 years old, it annually produces more than 4,300 expositions, as well as 11,000 additional events, worldwide.

Freeman, the man, meanwhile, is a member of the Convention Industry Council's Hall of Leaders and has received leadership awards from the International Association of Exhibition Managers (IAEM), the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), the Trade Show Exhibitors Association (TSEA) and the Texas Society of Association Executives (TSAE).
